Monitor FTP Server
Automatically monitor and sync changes from FTP servers
Overview
FTP Synchronizer can monitor FTP servers and automatically synchronize files when changes are detected. This feature is perfect for keeping your local files in sync with a remote server without manual intervention.
How It Works
The monitoring feature periodically checks your FTP server for changes:
- Scans remote directory at specified intervals
- Compares file lists and timestamps
- Automatically downloads new or modified files
- Uploads your local changes when needed
Setting Up Monitoring
- Open or create a synchronization profile
- Go to Monitor settings tab
- Enable "Enable monitoring" option
- Set monitoring interval (e.g., every 5 minutes)
- Configure notification options
- Click "Start Monitoring" to begin
Monitoring Options
- Interval: How often to check for changes (1-60 minutes)
- Direction: Bidirectional, download-only, or upload-only
- Notifications: Show pop-up alerts when changes are detected
- Log: Keep detailed logs of monitoring activities
- Run at startup: Automatically start monitoring when Windows starts
Best Practices
- Set appropriate intervals based on your needs (too frequent may impact performance)
- Use download-only monitoring if you only need to receive updates
- Enable logging to track all synchronization activities
- Test monitoring with a small sample first
- Consider using scheduler for one-time syncs instead of continuous monitoring
Troubleshooting
Monitoring not detecting changes
Check that monitoring interval is set correctly and that FTP Synchronizer is running in the background.
Performance issues
Increase monitoring interval or reduce the number of files being monitored to improve performance.
Connection errors
Ensure your FTP server is accessible and that your network connection is stable. Check firewall settings if needed.
